Terms of Service
Last updated 6 September 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Gildcrew. By creating an account or using the site you accept them. If you don't, please don't use Gildcrew.
1. What Gildcrew is — and isn't
Gildcrew is an introduction service. We connect customers who need work done with independent local businesses who might do it. That is the whole of our role.
- We do not employ, supervise, direct or control any professional listed here.
- We are not a party to any agreement, quote or contract you make with one another.
- We do not perform the work, inspect it, or guarantee its quality, timing or price.
- Every professional on Gildcrew is an independent business, responsible for its own licensing, insurance, taxes, employees and compliance with the law.
When you hire someone through Gildcrew, your agreement is with them. Get the scope, price and timeline in writing before work begins.
2. Accounts
- You must be 18 or older and able to enter a binding contract.
- Give us accurate information and keep it current.
- You're responsible for everything done through your account. Keep your password to yourself and tell us promptly if you think someone else has it.
- One account per person or business. Don't impersonate anyone.
- You must confirm your email address before your account becomes active.
3. If you're a customer
Posting a request is free and puts you under no obligation to hire anyone. Describe what you need honestly — professionals pay to contact you, and wasted contacts make the platform worse for everyone.
Do your own checks before you hire. Ask for a written quote, confirm licensing with your state or local authority, ask to see a current certificate of insurance, and be cautious about large deposits paid up front. We can introduce you to a business; we can't vouch for how it will treat you.
4. If you're a professional
- You must hold every licence, permit, registration and insurance policy the law requires for the work you offer, and keep them current.
- Represent your business, experience and qualifications accurately.
- You buy credits to unlock customer requests. A credit buys the customer's contact details and the chance to quote — not the job. We do not promise any volume of leads, any quality of lead, or that any lead will convert.
- Contact details you receive may only be used to quote for that request. Adding them to a marketing list, reselling them or contacting people about anything else is a breach of these terms and, in many places, of the law.
5. What the verified badge means
A verified badge means we have received and reviewed a business licence and a certificate of insurance for that business, and that neither had expired when we checked.
It does not mean we have inspected their work, confirmed the documents with the issuing authority, run background checks on their staff, or that we vouch for them. Documents can be forged, licences can be revoked, and insurance can lapse between checks. Verify anything that matters to you directly.
6. Credits and payments
- Posting requests is free for customers, always.
- Credits are for use on Gildcrew only. They have no cash value and are not redeemable.
- Credits are generally non-refundable once a request is unlocked, because the value — the customer's details — has already been delivered. If a lead is obviously fraudulent or duplicated, contact us and we'll usually refund it.
- Subscriptions renew until cancelled. Cancel any time; the current period isn't refunded.
- Prices can change. We'll give notice before a change affects an active subscription.
7. Reviews
Reviews may only be left by a customer about work they actually engaged a professional for. Write honestly and from your own experience. We remove reviews that are fake, incentivised, written by a competitor, contain personal data or unlawful content, or that we have good reason to believe are not genuine. We do not remove a review simply because its subject dislikes it.
8. Things you may not do
- Post anything false, unlawful, abusive, discriminatory or infringing.
- Scrape, crawl or bulk-extract data, or attempt to circumvent our security.
- Create accounts by automated means, or create accounts to manipulate reviews or ratings.
- Use another person's identity, business or documents.
- Take contact details obtained here and use them for unsolicited marketing.
9. Disputes between users
If something goes wrong between a customer and a professional, it's between the two of you. Tell us and we'll help where we reasonably can — we can pass on information, investigate conduct on the platform, and remove accounts that breach these terms. We can't arbitrate your contract, recover your money or compel anyone to finish a job.
10. Liability
Gildcrew is provided as-is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for the acts, omissions, work, conduct or solvency of any user; for loss of profit, business, earnings or data; or for indirect or consequential loss. Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $100.
Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Ending things
You can close your account at any time by emailing us. We can suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and will normally explain why. Unused credits are forfeited on closure for a breach.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. For material changes we'll give notice by email or on the site before they take effect. Continuing to use Gildcrew after that means you accept the new version.
